Chapter Eight

“You’re sure?” Titus asked as his fellow enforcer, Tristan Donaldson, pulled on his black T-shirt. They wouldn’t be wearing anything uniform except their insignia pins today. When Titus caught sight of the slogan, he rolled his eyes. “‘I would bottom you so hard’? Seriously? I don’t know if that makes the right impression.”

Tristan ran a hand through his black Mohawk, spiking it like he usually did when they hit the town. He did more primping in five minutes than Titus did in a week. He was the leader of his own unit of enforcers, but their similarities ended there. “I love this shirt. And yes, I’m sure. According to Waldemar, there is going to be a batch of humans being transported from the territory under the guise of some kind of social activity. He suspects they’re captives but couldn’t confirm.”

“When is this supposed to go down?”

Tristan shrugged. “A couple days after the full moon? I’m putting some of my men there to keep an eye on the situation first thing tomorrow. I imagine the Alpha there is getting twitchy because of all the extra Circle attention in the area. It’s probably why he’s choosing to move them.” He grabbed his Circle pin from his bunk and fastened it on his shirt. “We can discuss all this over supper, Titus. No need to ruin the prep time with mission talk.”

Titus shifted. “About that, I’ll be eating with Regan Adamson, Alpha Mustang’s beta.”

Tristan raised a meticulously sculpted eyebrow at him. “Yeah? You’re blowing off a mandatory meeting to eat with your newfound sweetheart?”

“That’s his mate, Tristan,” Roman rumbled from one row over. “Lay off. According to Circle law, he can pursue his mate so long as his major duties are taken care of. We can have another brief tomorrow before you guys leave. There is no reason we have to all be on edge tonight.”

Thank you, brother. “At any rate, full moon celebrations are intended to be relaxing. Besides, Alpha Mustang put a lot of effort into preparing this feast and having fresh game brought in for the hunt.” It was a thoughtful gesture and an eco-friendly one. If they didn’t bring game in from other overcrowded areas, they’d quickly deplete the natural wildlife with a pack as large as Mustang’s.

Tristan snorted. “You’re getting a little friendly with the pack, Titus. Our mission is to deal with the trafficking situation swiftly and efficiently and then get the hell back to Europe as fast as our planes will fly.” He scratched the back of his neck. “Mate or not, you can’t be seriously considering joining the pack. You’re a Circle enforcer. You won’t fit into a regular pack structure.”

“Grayson is also an omega. It can be done,” Titus argued. He hadn’t wanted to talk about this at all, but it seemed like he was going to.

“He wasn’t raised like we were. Omegas are a league of their own, and you know it. You wouldn’t be happy here. Why don’t you just enjoy
